Please help colleagues in Scottish aquaculture to ensure that work-based qualifications and apprenticeships deliver what businesses need, both now and in the future.
Skills Development Scotland has implemented a new approach to designing apprenticeships, ensuring that businesses are at the heart of the process. With support from Lantra, aquaculture employees and employers have been drafting new apprenticeships to support both entry and progression in the industry.
Work to date includes:
- Current and recent apprentices helped to draft Work Situations, describing what they do on a day-to-day basis, in Employee Workshops.
- A Technical Expert Group, comprising employers and other industry experts, reviewed those Work Situations and drafted Learning Outcomes and apprenticeship Frameworks (taking complementary learning such as Core Skills and Meta-skills, and technical training, into consideration).
- Learning experts are helping to design competency-based qualifications and assessment guidelines to reflect industry requirements.
This is a unique opportunity to lead change and influence learning and training in Scottish aquaculture, and your feedback will help to ensure the new apprenticeships deliver current and future business requirements.
